Love is in the air

At The SWD we love to hear stories of couples who do things a bit differently, and a 'mass hot air betrothal' certainly isn't your traditional run of the mill wedding day experience! Who needs a church or a registry office when you can tie the knot with your head in the clouds? Just after dawn on Saturday 8 March, 16 hot balloons will elevate fourteen couples way up above the city of Chiang Mai. A registrar will accompany a couple in each balloon and conduct an official wedding ceremony. It's hoped that this event will be a record-breaking one, with thousands of onlookers enjoying the mass wedding – organisers believe the spectacle will halt early morning traffic.
