FIREWORKS AREN'T JUST for creating an outdoor extravaganza; they can be used indoors and at most times of the day
There
are lots of ways for you to impress your guests after the ceremony but
there isn't much that compares to fireworks in terms of universal
appeal. A firework display transcends barriers like age and gender and
are great fun to keep as a surprise too. They can be scheduled for a
part of the evening when there's a natural lull and a professional
firework display that has been specially designed for you makes it even
more spectacular.
Finales
Whether you go
for a bespoke or standard routine, the display can be designed to build
to a climax that creates an emotional, exciting atmosphere. Malcolm
Crow from fireworks company 21st Century Celebrations says, "At the end
of your display you can have your names written in fireworks with large
fountains above them, or your initials encircled by a love heart." All
in your choice of colours of course!
Shhh!
It's
worth remembering that you can request a low noise display, which is
perfect if your venue is in a rural area or bound by strict
regulations. Low noise displays are similar to traditional shows, but
have been carefully choreographed for situations where noise may
present a problem. Although not so loud, these displays still incorporate creative and colourful set pieces.
Indoor treats
Although
we tend to think of fireworks as an outdoor spectacle, there's a lot
you can do with them inside too, and indoor pyrotechnics are
increasingly popular. As you cut your cake together, how about having
silver fountains rising around you to form a beautiful backdrop for the
photograph? Confetti canons are a great option too, particularly
because no pyrotechnics are involved. They work using compressed gas
rather than explosives, making them easier for sensible amateurs to
operate. Some Scottish companies sell confetti canons with DIY-friendly
firing systems at very reasonable prices.
Fountains
Malcolm suggests an Ice Fountain as
an impressive table centrepiece: "An Ice Fountain could be hidden
inside each floral table arrangement. These would be ignited by remote
control, creating a 30cm tall glittering fountain." You could have
outdoor flambeaux (flaming towers) at the venue entrance or burning
torches lining the driveway or gardens to make guests will feel like
VIPs as they arrive!
Safety first
It's
always best to get a professional company to run the firework show for
you if pyrotechnics are involved. Otherwise, you'll have to give the
responsibility for both the safety and success of the event to one of
your guests. With experts on-site to take care of everything, you can
relax in the knowledge that everything will be done properly and
nobody's going to risk their safety; there is no chance of somebody
who's a bit tipsy messing things up or hurting themselves.
Peace of mind
There's a certain peace of mind that comes with having a technically
trained professional on-board. Most professionals also do a lot more
than simply turning up and pressing a few buttons. They will carry out
a risk assessment, making sure that all the health and safety issues
have been covered, check that any local regulations regarding noise
restrictions have been adhered to, and liaise with venue staff to
ensure that smoke alarms are switched off for any indoor displays.
