Scotland offers plenty of choice on where to get married and by whom – but how do you decide? We asked some newlyweds to explain why they chose their type of ceremony and here's what they said...
"We were married by Rev. Easton, a family friend, in the church where one of my relatives had been a minister. Being married by someone we knew in a church with such close tries to my family made the ceremony extra special."
Kara Farley, who was married at South Knapdale Parish Church, Achahoish, Argyll
'I wanted to get married by Loch Coruisk as it's my favourite place in the world. John and I have walked and camped there in the past and it's a truly special place. We had to provide exact grid references in order to obtain a temporary wedding licence and the registrat had to take a trip by boat to vet the location.'
Morag Jolly, who was married by Loch Coruisk on the Isle of Skye
'Steven goes to Mass every Sunday at Girona Cathedral and it meant a lot to him for us to get married there. It was also one of the things that people loved most about the day and it wasn't difficult to organise – we just asked the Priest and he told us when it was free.'
Pamela MacGregor, who was married at Girona Cathedral, Spain
‘Our Humanist celebrant, Mary Wallace, asked us to email her three things we loved about each other, which she revealed them during the ceremony. She created a ceremony that fitted in with our personalities perfectly and it really seemed to capture our love.’
Kara Harrison, who was married at Roman Camp Hotel, Callander
